The Blas International Summer School 2017
Jednou z nejpřínosnějších letních škol z hlediska irské tradiční hudby a tance je Blas International Summer School, která se koná v prostorách Irish World Academy of Music and Dance v universitním campusu v Limericku.
“True to its name, Blas gives its students a taste of different styles with most students having more than two different master class tutors per study area and the option to move between music, song and dance” says Pamela Cotter, Blas Director. “Students who attend Blas will be experiencing more than just instrument classes, they will be completely immersed in the Irish culture as a whole. From Irish language classes to academic lectures in the field of Irish dance, music and song, students will be able to put their art form in a wider context and deepen their understanding of the tradition”
Blas has firmly established itself as one of Ireland’s most prestigious university accredited summer schools, drawing students from all over the world to spend two weeks gaining access to the expertise of some of Ireland’s finest artists. In addition to expert tuition and master classes, Blas students can expect a whole range of activities including lectures on Irish traditional music and dance topics, Irish language classes, lunchtime and evening concerts, sessions, céilithe, field-trips and above all, the unique opportunity to share tunes with some of Ireland’s leading traditional musicians.
Following its launch, a range of public events will take place throughout the summer school, including: a number of public lectures, most notably the annual Francis Roche Memorial Lecture; a bilingual interview with a seminal performer and figure in the Irish music scene; and daily public concert events which have proved to be immensely popular in the past.
June 2017 also marks the beginning of a new initiative between Blas and the Willie Clancy Summer School. Blas is now extending its offering to students by recognising and recommending a further week of insight into all aspects of Irish traditional music through participation in The Scope of Irish Traditional Music (Dúchas an Cheoil) class at the Willie Clancy Summer School in Miltown Malbay Co.Clare in early July. This new initiative between Blas and the Willie Clancy Summer School will enable students to earn university accreditation worth 3 undergraduate credits (6 ECTS credits). V minulosti tuto školu navštívilo několik tanečnic z Česka (vzpomínám s vědomím neúplnosti výčtu na Terezu Bachovou a Dominiku Dvořákovu) a Tereza Bernardová zde dokonce po dva roky vyučovala.
