This includes the following titles:
– Aspects of the History of Irish Céilí Dancing 1897-1997
– Aspects of the History of Irish Dancing
– Further Aspects if the History of Irish Dancing
– Irish Dancing Costumes – Their Origins and Evolution
– An Coimisiún le Rincí Gaelacha – Its Origins and Evolution
– Aspects of the History of Irish Dancing in North America
– Aspects of the History of Irish Dancing in Australia
– Aspects of the History of Irish Dancing Commission Examination
Due to the fact that we’ve been to Ireland recently, we brought the books to Prague in advance. And since it is difficult to estimate BSS participants‘ interest in history of Irish dance, the books aren’t available in an unlimited amount. We therefore offer the purchase of these books, or I can register binding orders with a hand over during the Summer School, while stocks last. Payment will always be received in Euro.
We therefore urge those interested in the books by John Cullinane not to hesitate and request them in advance, realizing the purchase no later than during BSS.
After the Summer School, any remaining books will stay her and will be sold at the prices as quoted and distributed by Antonio Pacelli.
In addition, John will bring with him a freshly recorded DVD, titled Traditional Cork Steps and Sets. It is a 1.5 hours DVD, and the author presents it with the following description:
This unique DVD: a) traces the history of Irish steps and sets since the 1800s b) demonstrates the seven „traditional“ sets for Examinations c) traces the history (composers Bio’s, dates etc.) of the steps and set illustrated d) includes instruction on traditional style dancing e) includes demonstration of some 13 traditional sets and some 15 traditional steps (all danced in traditional style) f) includes some historical still/inserts Dances are performed by some 11 different ‚senior‘ traditional Cork dance teachers, along with some ‚younger‘ guest dancers, all of whom learned their traditional style from famous Cork dance masters of the early 1900s.
After preliminary expressions of interest, this DVD will also be available at BSS 2013 for EUR 10.-. The DVD was created with the help of Mary Crowley Video Productions. I recommend not to hesitate even with this publication. It contains material of great historical value, which may be available only through this DVD in a few years.
