Step to the West in Ennistymon 2009

Abbey Ceilí band opened the weekend on Friday night and their music gradated with every dance. Floor was flooded by sets and fans of this band went to bed more than satisfied, Five Counties played Saturday afternoon (missed them) and I’m sure they were great, Swallows Tail were on the programme for Saturday night, except the initial difficulties with the sound at the beginning of the evening they accompanied us with quality music. And Johnny Reidy Ceilí Band closed the weekend with their best tunes in the Sunday afternoon – their music would not allow you to sit down and hall was fully packed again. Ceilí always started with the Caledonian set and finished with the treat in the form of Plain set. We also danced dances such as Claddagh set, Corofin Plain, Clare Lancers, Connemara, Sliabh Luachra, Ballyvourney jig set, Kilfenora and few others. Dancers of various ages met in the sets – from the smallest to those in their best years.

Thanks belongs to Sean Longe (organizer) and his team, Gerard Butler (event guide ;), Falls Hotel staff, who cared about the participants so well and I am sure there are more people behind this event…

We are already looking forward to the next year!
