Optimizing the BSS 2010 Schedule

23. 06. 2010 | 168 reads

After the deadline date of 15 June we began to optimize the BSS 2010 schedule. Firstly it turned out that two workshops will have to be cancelled. Their rescue was not helped even by the extended deadline which I hoped would increase the number of applications. Just as last year, the flute workshop was cancelled as well as, quite hard for me to understand why, the fiddle workshop. Both seminars were occupied by one candidate. There are about 30 teachers teaching only this instrument in Miltown Malbay. I'm sorry because we have lost a melodic instrument. But what can we do.

We also tried to adjust the schedule so that almost everyone can attend all the seminars, which they applied to. It seems that the schedule (except the last day) might look like this:
08:30 - 11:30 Step dancing beginners (M. Bernardová), beginners + primary (Terezas), intermediate (Ronan McCormack)
11:30 - 13:30 Sean nós singing (Máire Bríd)
13:30 - 15:30 Sean nós dancing (G. Butler)
16:00 - 19:00 Set Dancing (G. Butler)
13:00 - 16:00 Bodhrán I (R. Kozák), Guitar (D. Mikulášek)
14:00 - 16:00 Uilleann pipes (M. Sikiotakis)
16:00 - 19:00 Whistle (M. Sikiotakis, M. Penič), Bodhrán II (R. Kozák), Banjo (M. Zienert), Irish (R. Markus)

We should not deviate much from this schedule.
Other organizational changes and questions for teachers meant we were able to open more space to receive other applications. However, keep watching the information on our site because this situation could soon change for some seminars.
In conclusion I would like to ask those who do not have any special reason (which they informed me about), to pay the fee deposit. In case of filling up a seminar, the applications of those who failed to pay in advance will be excluded. If someone changed their decision to participate in BSS 2010, I would appreciate if they would let us know.

V.B.
