DVD from Bernard´s Summer School is avalaible

Nothing keeps good memories from a past event better, beside good feelings, than photos or a video recording. As usual, we are we are producing this audiovisual material from the Summer School which will remind you of it. First there were videotapes, from the 5th Summer School we tried a DVD and that is the case this year as well. At first the videos tried to capture not just the atmosphere of the event but also some steps as a form of reminder for the dancers. Due to growing influence of An Coimisiún rules on the continent the teachers‘ steps became prohibited and thus they are not included anymore.

On the other hand the Final Evenings have always been an important moment of the Summer School and thus they also became a part of our recordings.
Thus the DVD from BSS 2009 contains especially the footage from the Final Evening in Ponec Theatre on 21 August 2009. The evening programme got a bit out of hand and thus the complete recording of the evening takes 150 minutes. It is an opportunity to look back at yourselves and your colleagues with whom you have spent a week of friendly atmosphere, surrounded by Irish culture. You will see the performances of those who were happy to share them. And last but not least you have a chance to „meet“ your teachers.
Another part of the DVD consists of a Documentary from the Summer School which was made by Míša Nováková. Her task was to capture the atmosphere and the broad scope of the event with the possibility of using the report as an advertising item for the following years of BSS. I think that Míša managed her assignment very well which you can verify from this DVD. And since all respondents expressed themselves very positively about the Summer School (for which I am grateful), I can experience a good feeling from a well done job when watching this eight-minute film.
Not everything however can be captured by „moving pictures“. And thus any possible gaps between the film windows are filled by photos. To make the view as full as possible, we used ca. 60 photos from 7 authors - Markéta Bernardová, Chris Eichbaum, Lada Frýdlová, Alena Gaálová, Milan Hašek, Martin Nedvěd and Vít Ryjáček. I would like to thank the photographers for their willingness to provide their works and thus they will receive this DVD free of charge in return.
Final editing of this DVD was done by Martin Loužecký, cover texts were translated by Katka Velanová. The title page shows a photo by Alena Gaálová.
